Fuel is critical to the survival of human society. We rely on gasoline for almost all of our activities. Fuel is required whether you want to drive a car or just want a little electricity to play games with your buddies. Electricity is generated in various ways, and the most common of which is by burning fuels and then using the heat energy generated to power turbines and therefore generate electricity. Traditional fuels, on the other hand, have the disadvantage of being non-renewable. This necessitates the development of new fuel sources that are both efficient and environmentally beneficial.
What are alternate sources of fuel?
Our most traditional source of electricity generation is fossil fuels (oil, coal, and natural gas). Why do we need alternative sources of fuel?
Fossil fuels provide for up to 80% of the energy consumed in the United States. Because of our current reliance on fossil fuels, we are on the verge of rapidly depleting these scarce resources. That is to say, if we aren’t careful, we will deplete our finite, non-renewable resources. That implies there will be no more oil, natural gas, or coal. The environmental impact of using fossil fuels in power plants is very significant. Everything from the ocean and air pollution to the extinction of entire ecosystems is on the table.
